Week 37: Splitting belly update

36 weeks: part II.

I wrote my previous post about the belly pain at about 1:00 this morning; after a good night’s sleep with the Small Monster belly supported on pillows, all was good, but it only took a few minutes of standing up for it all to start all over again.

I eventually called the medical advice hotline for my doctor’s office, and the OB on call said not to worry, it was probably normal (lots of women get umbilical pain in late pregnancy) and I should in any event be able to hold out until tomorrow when I should definitely show/tell my perinatologist. Which is kind of what I figured, but hey, it freaking hurts!

But one thing he did say, and I thought this was funny, was not to do whatever it was that was making it hurt (standing with my belly unsupported, leaning too far forward, touching my belly the wrong way, thinking evil thoughts, etc). All I could think was… “well, yeah, obviously… if it makes me cry, I’m not going to do it…” Like, um, duh.

(I guess I can’t say the same for labor, can I? ;) )
