Week 26: Aaaaaaarrrrrrgh…

25 weeks, 6 days.

So I have not yet written this week’s installment of “5 good things about being pregnant”, but I have a really good reason for it – the hormones are knocking me flat on my wide arse.

I’m pregnant, I know I’m pregnant, and the mood swings have been there since the beginning of the pregnancy (well, if you can call them mood swings, since often times I do feel them coming and am able to let them pass). Right now, though, I feel a little bit like someone turned the PMS switch all the way up to eleven, and it’s really sucky to wake up feeling like your body wants you to be in a God-awful mood, even if your mind doesn’t. I’m still, for the most part, not grumping at anyone or actually giving in to the physiological drive to be pissy, but given that according to this study on memory levels during pregnancy, estrogen levels hit over 1000 times their non-pregnancy levels during pregnancy (and I’m not even going to guess what happens to other exciting hormones), it’s no wonder I’m feeling really off-kilter.

Christian mentioned that the reason I’m probably doing ok in spite of feeling like crap is that I have an almost no-stress lifestyle right now (things like The Stupid Drama of Other People having been pushed aside now for some months, thankfully), and he’s probably right, but I still hate that feeling that my feelings are out of my control, even if I can keep a handle on them. Thankfully, I’m not working some 60-hour-a-week-plus-commute-time job right now, or things would probably really go crazy.

So that’s why I haven’t written anything positive pregnancy-wise in the past couple of days – I’ll see about it this evening. In the meantime, I think I’ll go get sniffly and cry over some book or movie. That seems to help these days…
