21 weeks, 4 days.
Some good old friends of mine from college have taken to making daily “Five good things in my life” posts in their blogs; I’m not going to go that far right now, because I’m lazy, but I think I’ll make an occasional (I’ll try for weekly) “good things about being pregnant” post, just because I can (and because it’s too easy to focus on the bad bits).
And so, for the week of July 29, 2007, here are my five good things about being pregnant right now:
- The squirmy feeling and occasional pops from the baby moving around – I may not be able to feel him as much as other mothers at this stage – most of the time I have to decide if it’s my intestines or baby – but what I can feel reminds me that there’s a little one in there whom I love already.
(N.B. to all prescriptive grammar nazis: To improve your snooty blog-reading experience, I used the right case in that sentence, even though it makes my inner writer/linguist twitch. You may thank me in the form of worship and donations. Hah!) - Not having to feel guilty about drinking all the milk. And I love milk. Moo.
- Getting to watch as my husband talks to the baby through my belly – it’s very, very sweet and makes me feel all warm inside. He’s going to be an awesome dad.
- My fat belly actually looking really cool for once. It rules. This is the only time in my life I am ever going to get excited as my stomach gets bigger. Well, until it’s so big that I want to explode. But anyhow.
- Knowing that by any measure, we’re at least halfway to having this baby – the longest they usually let you go before inducing you is 42 weeks, and every week from now on, I’ll probably feel more from the baby, who is growing fast.
More good stuff next week
