Week 17: Good news on the tests…

16 weeks, 1 day.

AFP4 results came back negative today :) Chances of Down’s, Trisomy 18, and open neural tube defects are, then, very low. (Not that a positive would have made it high – AFP4 has an annoyingly high rate of false positives, generally freaking older mothers out unnecessarily, causing many to forego the test altogether to avoid the worry that accompanies it!)

We still have the genetics appointment Thursday with ultrasound to look for structural defects since I’m an old crone (and to discuss the AFP4 results – I suspect my OB released them to me online because he’s a total mensch) , but I’m not sure it gets much better than this :)
