Ladies and gentlemen, it is hot here in Denver. As in currently 98°F (about 37°C) hot. I don’t mind my body being that temperature, but I do mind my backyard being that temperature. Or, say, the whole upstairs.
Yes, yes, this is better than it was for us in LA last summer (I don’t even remember how hot it was, but the heat index was well above 110°F, and all we had was a fan – not even a cool basement to hang out in) when we ended up seeing horrible movies just to stay cool. But I wasn’t pregnant last summer, and I didn’t particularly want to hang out outside in Los Angeles all that much. My lungs tended to object.
I swear, in our next house, there will be air conditioning of some kind. Or evaporative cooling. Whatever works.
Staying hydrated, though, is the real challenge. Already I’m supposed to drink an ungodly amount of water for the baby’s sake, and with what water gets lost just by being at a high altitude in a semi-arid climate (current humidity: 9% – compare to Las Vegas, where it’s 4%…), the heat is not helping. I’m having trouble choking down enough water to keep up, so I’m tired a lot, and I just try to keep guzzling.
Thank God for the evenings, when it’s nice and cool. Unfortunately our brick oven house traps the day’s heat, but the fan at least helps suck some of that out…
(Yes, I know, whine, whine, complain, complain. It distracts me from the genetics results we’re supposed to get Thursday, so bear with me…)

Good luck with the test results!
And I REALLY want to see Sicko. Now I just have to find a sitter…and a baby who will sleep through the sitter’s stay
Thanks!
Good luck in your quest for the holy grail!
Er, I mean, sitter and a sleeping baby *grin*
Sicko is really good
Sad, funny, and realllly educational. Even my husband was sniffling at the end!
Hope you find the sitter and that Sacha wears himself out before the sitter shows up!
